We build the software operations actually run on.
DevGroup designs, builds, and runs custom software for the teams who keep a business moving: operations, security and access control, retail, and enterprise product groups. Products, internal platforms, and the integrations between them.
- Small senior team, first commit to on-call
- Production environment before the first feature
- Handed off with runbooks, or run alongside you

Who we build for
Teams where downtime is visible.
Doors that have to open. Shifts that have to be staffed. Stores that have to reconcile.
Operations teams
Logistics, field service, facilities, and back-office groups running on processes nobody has turned into software yet.
Security & access control
Multi-site operators who need credential, visitor, and policy management across mixed hardware and identity systems.
Retail & multi-location
Brands with many locations, point-of-sale and inventory systems, and a head office that needs a single view.
Enterprise product teams
Internal product groups that need a senior engineering partner to ship a specific system without a 40-person agency process.
What we build
Six capabilities. One accountable team.
Engagements are scoped to a real system: a product to launch, a workflow to replace, an integration that keeps failing, or a stack that has outgrown its first version.
Product engineering
Web apps, APIs, and operator-facing tools taken from first architecture to production.
Access control & security systems
Credential, visitor, and zone-policy software that sits on top of the hardware you already run.
Operations tooling & internal platforms
Back-office systems that replace the spreadsheet, the shared inbox, and the script only one person understands.
Integrations & data movement
Reliable connections between CRMs, billing, identity, partner systems, and the custom software in the middle.
Applied AI
Models and agents only where they change a workflow, with retrieval, evaluation, and human review built in.
Reliability & modernization
Stabilize deploys, add observability, and modernize the parts of the stack that keep breaking.
How we work
Scope. Prototype. Ship. Run.
We work next to the people who run the business. Specs stay short, demos happen in the real environment, and nothing counts as done until it is deployed, observed, and documented.
- 01
Scope
We start with the system that exists today, the people who use it, and what better would look like for them. Short technical discovery, honest constraints, and a scope both sides can point at.
- 02
Prototype
The fastest way to test a design is to put it in front of an operator. We prototype the risky parts first: the integration that might not cooperate, the data model, the one workflow that has to be right.
- 03
Ship
Production from the first sprint. Typed codebases, tests where they pay for themselves, CI/CD, and demos in the real environment instead of a slide deck.
- 04
Run
Software that cannot be observed and handed off is unfinished. We instrument what we build, support the launch, and leave your team able to own it, or keep running it alongside you.
Engineering standards
Boring where it should be. Careful where it counts.
Defaults on every system we ship, not aspirations on a careers page.
Typed, boring, maintainable
TypeScript end to end, conventional stacks, and dependency discipline. Clever is a cost we try not to pay.
Production from week one
Environments, CI/CD, and deploy pipelines exist before the first feature does. Nothing lives only on a laptop.
Observable by default
Structured logs, metrics, and tracing are part of the definition of done, not a follow-up project.
Security as a design input
Least-privilege access, audited actions, secret hygiene, and a threat model sized to the system's real exposure.
Documented for the next engineer
Architecture decisions, runbooks, and onboarding notes, so your team can take over without us in the room.
Small senior teams
A few experienced engineers with direct access to the people who run the business. Specs stay short. Demos happen often.
Part of EDGE Affiliates
One company. Two front doors.
EDGE Affiliates is the growth, partnerships, and advisory practice. DevGroup is its product and engineering studio, where the software, platforms, and integrations get designed, built, and run. If your problem is a product to ship, start here. If it is positioning, partners, or go-to-market, start with EDGE. Either way you end up talking to the same people.
- DevGroup
- Product engineering, access control and ops software, integrations, applied AI, and running what we ship.
- EDGE Affiliates
- Growth strategy, affiliate and partner programs, ecosystem development, and advisory.
DevGroup (also written DEV Group) exists so product work has a clear home: software operators use every day, built by the engineers who also carry the pager. How we are set up.
